Jeremy McDonald had a pair of big goals to lead the J.L. Ilsley Judges to a 3-2 win over the Citadel Phoenix on Tuesday night in the first game of their best-of-three quarter-final series in metro high school boys’ hockey.

At Spryfield Arena, McDonald scored the equalizer with 4:13 remaining in regulation time, then buried the winner in the eighth round of the shootout.

Tyler Cameron had the other Judges marker, while Riley Cameron and Angus Behan tallied for Citadel.

C.P. Allen 4, Prince Andrews 1: At the Bowles Arena, the Cheetahs took Game 1 in the best-of-three series.

Luca Sartore, Bruce Tomie, Brad Curran and Nick Marshall were the goal scorers for C.P. Allen.

Cole Bulger was the lone scorer for the Panthers. Bulger scored his goal with 16 seconds remaining, spoiling Cheetahs goalie Liam Cavanagh’ shutout bid. The Cheetahs outshot the Panthers 31-23.

Game 2 of the series will be played at the Lebrun Centre on Friday at 8 p.m.
